Kamloops, BC, Canada – September 12, 2026

Signup will be open from June 22 until August 31st, or until we reach capacity. IF YOU SIGN UP AFTER AUGUST 15TH, YOU WILL NOT GET AN EVENT SHIRT. If you do not receive a confirmation email that your signup has been completed, then it is not complete.
THIS IS NOT A RACE. For those of you not familiar with the Loose Screw Dual Sport, it is a self-guided, non-competitive gathering for all sizes of street legal dual sport motorcycles. You are responsible for your own extraction, or bike extraction, should something happen. We do not “sweep ride” the routes, so we encourage single riders to join up with other single riders or ride in a small group together. The “buddy system” is good practice anytime you’re in the back country!
We will be limiting entries to 150 in total, with no more than 99 in any one group. Ultimately we will have a third of registrants in each category so that there will be less congestion….and less dust!
The same as in 2023, we will be camping and staging at Kent Antoniak’s property on Highway 97D near the Lac le Jeune exit off the Coquihalla. Camping fees are included in this year’s registration, whether you decide to camp or not. Yes, the price has gone up, as our costs have gone up with the move away from Duffy Lake this year. Porta-potties and insurance are the big cost additions this year (AND BEEF), and we want to be able to provide lots of great prizes once again!
The crew has been hard at work putting together some fantastic routes and checking to make sure everything is legal per the Permissions Policy that we run the event under. I’ve ridden the unedited B route in it’s entirety on my 500 and most of it on my 690. I rode the entirety of the unedited A route on my 500 and I have ridden the entire C+ loop on my 690. I have not ridden the C+ route yet, but it will be proofed prior to the event date.
All of the routes start and finish at Kent Antoniak’s property, and we will be hosting dinner on the Saturday night (September 12th). Activity for Friday the 11th evening is still in the works.
All bikes will need to be plated, as all 3 routes do have pavement sections. None of the routes are designed for beginners. If you do not already have some experience riding your dual sport off-road, the Loose Screw 2026 is not meant for you.
Here is the thought process behind the routes:
A: We heard that last year’s route was just about right for difficulty and length, so we took that into consideration when designing this year’s route. It’s currently 91.3 KM, and I don’t believe there will be any changes. Moving time was 5 1/2 hours, so it’s obviusly quite tight! There is no gas station along the route, but if you’ve got an extremely small tank, you could hide some spare gas in the woods at the Inks Lake pits, as the route goes right through there. This route is designed for 500cc or smaller bikes, and for intermediate or better riders. If it’s wet, then you’d better be a very capable rider. There are several places to bail out if you find that you’ve bitten off more than you can chew. No bikes bigger than a 500 on this route, no exceptions. If you like this year’s A route, you can thank Dan Breakey, former head cheese of the Loose Screw!
B: The B route is a real treat again! It’s currently 150KM and does not have a gas stop either. This route was designed for 690/700/701’s but you need to be relatively capable on one to make it through everything. This is NOT KLR650 friendly nor other big bike friendly. The designer of this route remains anonymous, as he’s not a Facebooker, but if you’ve been to previous events, you may have ridden his previous creations.
C+: This route was intended to be a C route, but after riding it we discovered that it is far too difficult to be labelled a “C”. Since we had it built already, we figured that we should make it available, as it’s a PERFECT loop for 690/700/701’s! It’s currently 215 KM with no gas stops other than in Logan Lake very near the beginning. We will likely be adding a few KM to this route to eliminate a pavement section, but it should be under 230 KM in total, with the gas stop being about 20KM into the ride.
C: The C route is another real gem, put together by the legendary Floyd Reves. It is about 220KM, and has NO opportunities for fuel without leaving the course. It is designed to be ridden on a big bike, providing that you’ve got some off road skills in your tool pouch, but it will also be enjoyable on smaller bikes. There are many deactivated roads used, so count on crossing lots of deactivation ditches!
Cost is $175.00 per entry and this will be the ONLY place where we accept entries. There will be no in-person sign-ups allowed at the event. The entry fee will include snacks, dinner on Saturday night, an event shirt, and GPS tracks for your chosen route. You will also be able to purchase additional shirts and dinners if required. We have switched to a 3rd party company (CCN) for the entire sign up process, including on-line signing of the event waiver. This sign up process requires you to create an account with CCN. Please keep your login information for future events as we plan on using the same process in the future.
ONCE ENTERED INTO THE EVENT, THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS AND NO ROUTE CHANGES, NO EXCEPTIONS. You will have an opportunity to purchase cancellation insurance at the bottom of the sign up page, but please note that this insurance is administered by CCN, not the GKMA.
ALL BIKES MUST BE STREET LEGAL AND INSURED, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Individual campfires will NOT be permitted BUT we will have a group fire, providing that the province has not issued a campfire ban.
This is a one-day event – September 12th, 2026. Camping will be open at noon on Friday, September 11th; please do not arrive earlier than that, and you will be expected to leave by noon on Sunday September 13th.
GPS tracks will be emailed to registered participants on Monday September 7th for your chosen route only. An important condition of our event permit is that it limits each route to 100 participants.
You must complete an event waiver on-line as part of the sign up process in order to participate in the event.
